Jazz 3-4 & Jazz 3-4.2
On Jazz 3-4, I start out with a pick up on "uh 3" and then it's in with brushes, playing in 3/4. I'm not playing a repetitive pattern, so you'll really need to keep your place after the pick up to know where we are. I do play some hi hat "chicks" on beat 2 pretty often, as well as some crashes on the 1 of each turn around, so you probably can listen for that. On Jazz 3-4.2 the beat comes right in with no pick up.
At marker 2:12 for Jazz 3-4 and marker 1:51 for Jazz 3-4.2, I go to the ride cymbal. You'll want to keep your sticks handy, in order to make a smooth transition. When I do that, the time signature now becomes 4/4.
There are places for gratuitous bass solos or for other instruments where you may want the volume to come down. On Jazz 3-4, it's at marker 4:05 and on Jazz 3-4.2, it's at marker 3:32.
There are many ways to play jazz–too many to cover here. I suggest listening to as many jazz tunes as possible. There are local jazz stations all over where you can hear many different approaches and pick up ideas. Every situation is different and will dictate what and how you should play.
